As I travel to different countries I am drawn to highly textured but dilapidated surfaces where marks, repairs, stains and climatic changes have left their legacy. Certain experiences of the place, form strong sensory memories. Tapping back into the memories, leads to abstract forms, texture, colour and line in my work, bringing about the essence of the places visited. The artworks are used to explore possibilities in recreating my personal responses to the elements, using a variety of media in multiple layers. They have been described as elemental, raw, earthy, abstract and semi-abstract.
