Pauline Heginbotham

My style of painting is influenced by a formal training in Advertising and Design. I learned a great deal about the printing industry whilst creating artwork for numerous advertising promotions and spent three years in Greece producing designs for packaging.
Composition, texture and colour are the key elements I use to evoke atmosphere within urban themes, creating a semi abstract interest.
An integral part of my approach is research and creativity comes from my love of experimenting with a variety of media. Inspiration can come from deconstructing John Piper’s wonderful layering in his portrayals of ecclesiastical buildings and direction from Robert Kushner’s use of rich colours in his vibrant botanical compositions.
When incorporating fabric and stitch the work of textile artist Cas Holmes is a great source to study, particularly how she translates paper, cloth and stitch into successful landscapes.
My work has been shown in a number of group exhibitions and is in private ownership in the UK and USA.
